Morgans Solar offers a range of solar solutions to businesses, commercial property/land owners, farmers and community / public sector organisations in Ampthill, Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes and across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire.

Wheather you are concerned about the rising cost of energy and the impact this will have on your organisation or you are looking for ways to reduce the carbon footprint of your business, commercial solar panels are a sound investment:

  • Free Electricity during the day when your electricity usage is at its highest
  • Additional income from the feed-in tariff, guaranteed for 20 years and index linked to RPI
  • Reduced CO2 emmissions helping to achieve your carbon reduction target
  • Less financial risk from escalating costs better control over energy bills

In March 2012 the planning rules for commercial Solar systems were relaxed so it’s now easier and more cost effective than ever to install solar panels on a commercial or public sector building.  There are a number of different options for mounting commercial solar panels depending upon the type of building and roof:

Flat Roof Installation – often commercial premises have large flat roof areas which can be ideal for Solar panels.  Panels can be oriented to face south depending upon the space available and this ensures maximum output.  The solar panels are mounted on special ‘A’ frames which can either be bolted through to the roof structure or held down with ballast (usually concrete slabs).  The roof structure and covering will be taken into account to determine the best option.  Importantly, the water tightness of the roof must not be compromised so our team will advise on the most appropriate solution.

Pitched Roof Installation – if your building has a south facing pitched roof then it could be a perfect location to site solar panels.  South facing, 30 degree pitch will give the optimum output but good performance can still be obtained from south easterly, south westerly orientation and even a combination of East and West.  On an existing building solar panels will usually be mounted on top of the roof tiles or covering but roof integrated systems are possible.  On a new build, an in-roof system is often the preferred option from an aesthetic point of view.

Other options include:

Wall-mounted / Canopy Installation – special ‘A’ frames are attached to a south facing wall of the building either at height or lower down to form a canopy.

Ground Mounted Installation – if you have land but no suitable buildings, this could be a great option for you.  The system can usually be optimised for maximum output and the size is only governed by space available although both planning permission and DNO approval will probably be required.
